Construction Updates


Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW)

  • Seventy-seven (77) out of 176 monopiles have been installed by the ORION as of September 24. Foundation installation is complete for 2024 and will resume May 1, 2025.

  • Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) relocation is ongoing along the export cable corridor.

  • Cable installation vessel LIVING STONE is performing export cable installation.

  • Rock installation vessel FLINTSTONE will return to perform scour protection installation.


Revolution Wind

  • Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) SCYLLA is installing wind turbine generator components.

  • The BOKALIFT 2 is installing monopile foundations while the BOKALIFT 1 installs secondary steel at existing foundations.

  • SEAWAY AIMERY is performing inter-array cable (IAC) installation.

  • J.D. ASSISTER is performing post-IAC trenching.

  • PAUL CANDIES is performing wind turbine commissioning.

  • NEXANS AURORA is performing export cable installation.

  • DEEP CYGNUS is performing export able pre-lay survey and post-lay trenching.

  • HEA LEVIATHAN is performing offshore substation (OSS) commissioning.


South Fork Wind

  • Wind turbine installation and commissioning is complete.


Vineyard Wind

  • Twenty-four (24) out of sixty-two (62) complete wind turbines have been installed as of October 22.

  • Thirty-two (32) out of sixty-two (62) tower sections have been installed as of October 22.

  • Forty-seven (47) out of sixty-two (62) transition pieces have been installed as of October 22.

  • Forty-seven (47) out of sixty-two (62) monopiles have been installed as of October 22.

  • Foundation installation vessel ORION is performing monopile installation with the SEA CHALLENGER to follow performing transition piece installation.

  • Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) SEA INSTALLER is on scene installing wind turbine generator components.

Speed Read

  • The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) approved the construction and operations plan (COP) for Atlantic Shores South projects 1 and 2.

  • Equinor announced Patriot Offshore as the preferred CTV supplier for Empire Wind project.

  • Leading Light Wind awarded Hellenic Cables for the supply of 65km of 132kV inter-array cable (IAC) with a 2030 delivery for its New Jersey project.

  • Dominion Energy finalized the sale of 50% non-controlling interest in its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project to investment firm, Stonepeak.

  • SouthCoast Wind 1, received state approvals for the construction and operation of onshore transmission facilities at Brayton Point in Somerset, MA.

  • Dominion Energy finalized the purchase of the Kitty Hawk North offshore wind lease area from Avangrid for approximately US$ 160 million.

  • Four developers submitted bids into New York's fifth offshore wind solicitation. Those bidders included

    • Orsted: 1,485 MW, Long Island Wind (combination of Sunrise and Starboard Wind)

    • RWE and National Grid Ventures: 2,800 MW, Community Wind (increase from 1,314 MW previous bid)

    • Vineyard Offshore: 1,350 MW, Excelsior Wind

    • TotalEnergies, Rise Light & Power and Corio Generation: 1,365 MW, Attentive Energy One

  • BOEM announced the provisional winners of the Gulf of Maine Offshore Wind Energy Lease Sale which included Invenergy and Avangrid. The award totals 6.8 GW and US$ 21.9 million sale proceeds.
